Is your background really transparent?
A checkerboard is a preview convention, not proof that your file contains transparent pixels.
Look at the alpha channel
In an image with transparency, each pixel has an alpha value. In the 8-bit image data used by our checker, zero is fully transparent, 255 is fully opaque, and intermediate values are semi-transparent. The tool reads these values rather than judging the image by appearance.
A downloaded checkerboard can be part of the artwork
Some screenshots or preview images show a gray-and-white grid that is already painted into the pixels. If every pixel is opaque, the grid will print along with your design. Transparency Checker reports “No transparency detected” for that image even when it visually resembles a transparent preview.
Check soft edges too
Anti-aliased artwork often includes semi-transparent edge pixels. These are normal, but a light halo can become visible on a dark shirt. Switch the preview background to dark and then white. A solid-color remover can help with simple backgrounds, but complicated halos may need manual cleanup in an editor.
Use the correct export format
PNG and WebP can store transparency. JPG cannot. When exporting JPG with our converter, the tool fills transparent areas with your selected background color and tells you that it has done so.
Remove simple backgrounds carefully
The background remover targets a chosen solid color. By default it only removes matching regions connected to the canvas boundary, helping preserve enclosed white details. A white shape that touches the outside background may still be removed. Lower the tolerance and inspect the result rather than assuming the tool understands the subject.
Check the file you will actually use
After editing or compression, run the final PNG through Transparency Checker again. Confirm the output dimensions, the visible artwork bounds, and the transparent-pixel report before uploading it to a product.
